BITUMEN EMULSION TACK COAT

SS 1H

SS 1h is an anionic slow setting bitumen emulsion designed for use as a tack coat, in fine-graded mixes, dust control, fog seal and specialty applications.
SS 1h emulsions are used for a variety of purposes. Slow setting emulsions are the most stable of emulsions, and generally can be diluted with water and mixed with mineral fillers and aggregates for all paving uses, the air and pavement temperatures at construction should be sufficiently high to allow the emulsion to fully cure. By practice we know that no asphalt binders should be applied during rain or imminent threat of rain.

Features and Benefits

Surface Preparation: Full width of the surface to be treated shall be cleaned with a power broom or power blower to remove dust, dirt or other objectionable materials. All fatty or unsuitable patches, excess cracks or joint filler and all surplus bituminous material shall be corrected. Surface shall be dry when treated. Application: After preparing the surface as above, Tackcoat- SS 1h shall be applied by diluting approximately an equal quantity of water and thoroughly mixed. The dilution shall be maximum 100% and can be desired by the Engineer according to the required rate of spray. The speed of the spray tanker shall be monitored to obtain the desired spraying rate as per the project specification. Hand-spraying of restricted, inaccessible areas are dependent according to the project.
Tackcoat- SS 1h: can be stored at ambient temperature up to 50°C. The application can be done at ambient temperature or up to 60°C. The recommended application rate shall be between 0.18 to 0.35kg/m2.

Health & Safety

SS Ih is non-flammable. It is advised to use proper PPEs while handling and application.
Skin: Avoid contact with skin, if occurs lotion or hand cream may aid in the removal of asphalt. Wash contact areas with soap and water.
Eyes: Avoid contact with eyes, if occurs Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Get medical attention if irritation develops and persists.
Inhalation: If breathing is difficult, remove to fresh air and keep at rest in a position comfortable for breathing.
