RHEOSEAL HD is a heavy-duty high performance thixotropic Styrene Butadiene Styrene (SBS) modified bitumen jellified elastomeric waterproofing liquid coating. It forms a seamless, highly elastic, extremely durable UV resistant membrane specially formulated to provide water vapor permeability with very high resistance to re – emulsification when in contact with water. The coating on curing forms a seamless and joint free membrane
Surface Preparation: The surface shall be cleaned thoroughly of all contaminants like dust, traces of curing compound, oil, grease. All surface imperfections and protrusions are to be removed and repaired. Structurally unsound and friable concrete must be removed and repaired with a suitable concrete repair mortar.
Application: RHEOSEAL HD can be applied by brush, roller or squeegee. Hot dry or very porous substrates should be dampened with clean water prior to application of RHEOSEAL HD. A primer coat diluted with 20% of cool clean water is also recommended in case the application surfaces are highly porous. If a primer coat is applied, allow it to dry completely before applying subsequent coats. The coating must be stirred well before use. For Vertical applications, it is recommended to apply the coating in multiple layers to avoid sagging of heavy bodied coating. This can be best achieved by maximum rate of 200 microns per coat. All application should be continued up verticals to the existing damp proof course. When the surface is to receive a screed, plaster or render finish, A keyed surface should be formed by gritting the second coat with clean dry sand sharp sand and allowed to dry for the period of minimum 48 hours before applying a render, plaster or floor screed. Brush off excessive sand prior to applying the screed or render. When two or more coats are required, it is important that the preceding coat is fully dry before the successive coat is applied. The successive coat should be applied at right angle to the preceding coat. On all weak points such as cracks, around pipes, flashings use a woven fiberglass mesh /geotextile as reinforcement between the two coats of RHEOSEAL HD. Do not apply RHEOSEAL HD to outside areas in wet weather or when rain is expected. Protect freshly applied product from rain until it’s fully cured.
Reinforcement: In corporate glass mesh/geotextile into the first coat of RHEOSEAL HD when wet, allow the first coat to dry, which generally takes 24 hours to dry and then apply a second coat. Finish: For exposed system it is recommended to broadcast clean sharp sand or colour mineral granules/slates over the coating before it dries, alternatively apply a very flexible reflective paint after the membrane is fully cured, which is after a week.
Protection: RHEOSEAL HD should be protected from traffic by using protection boards on the vertical and screed on the horizontal surfaces.
